The Kovenlore Chronicles series, a women’s fiction, historical fantasy in 7-novels. It’s a character driven tale packed full of romance, magic, & adventure amidst unforgettable settings.

On the right is the book’s cover, the negative image a golden, hand drawn map showing mountains and rivers. On top of that is the title, Trust in the Forgotten, written in a stylish text that’s turquoise with black outlining. Between the first three words and the last below them are eyes that are the same color. Below that, in the same font and color, but without shadowing, it reads Book 1 of the Kovenlore Chronicles. Near the bottom, and written in a more plain text, the color a dark yellow with a black outline, is the author’s name, Christina Anne Hawthorne. The left, beside the cover, is the following text: On the world of Ontyre… Riparia Dellbane, a reclusive Keeper courier with a fractured past, blends into Carrdia’s dystopian landscape, yet dreams of a better future. The image is a color map of the continent of Tremjara on the world of Ontyre. The continent is roughly oval with notable exceptions, the oval tilted southwest to northeast. In the far north are the Frozen Lands, but otherwise the continent is surrounded by three oceans, the Para-Equa in the west, Terminus in the south, and Titania to the east. A long, slim peninsula, along with multiple islands, exists in the northwest. In the west and south are multiple, large islands. The southeastern peninsula is a barren wasteland with some volcanic islands off its coast. There are scattered islands up the eastern coast, most notably Pannulus, a roughly circular archipelago. The continent is roughly divided in half by mountain chains, some more extensive than others. Mountains also exist in other locations, especially the southwest. The west is heavily forested, the east a mix of forests and grasslands. The south desert. Some notable locations follow. Mythwyll in the southwest was the elfin homeland. In the west, Forstava is still the ora’ean homeland. In the east, Emprensa was once the home province of an empire. In the northeast, Draskrith is the realm of the shadow lords. Below that, and as noted, is Pannulus. At the continent’s center is nation of Carrdia. It’s surrounded by mountains, except in the west along its border with Forstava, and in the northeast. The continent’s biggest lake is located there, as is the mighty Key River.

In a child’s mind there was no time, but time there was to learn to climb, and so she did, scaling the rock along the water’s edge. Learning to dream, and dreaming, a current moving in time. Seeing the world, not as it was, but as it was before the past was dust, and that was in the beginning, long before she’d ventured forth. The idea behind the Kovenlore Chronicles structure diagram is to show how each book fits in the bigger story. Each book has its own tale and structure, but there’s also the larger story. In the background is a faint image of a woman on a horse in the mountains. Over the top of that is a horizontal line that shows story structure. Atop the line are points like on a graph that show Opening, Inciting Event, First Plot Point, Midpoint, Third Plot Point, Climax, Denouement, and End. Below the line are the seven books. Book 1, Trust in the Forgotten, covers the Opening and Inciting Event. Book 2 covers the First Plot Point. Book 3 falls between First Plot Point and Midpoint, which would be the First Pinch Point, if shown. Book 4 spans the series Midpoint. Book 5 falls between the Midpoint and Third Plot Point, which would be the Second Pinch Point if shown. Book 5 also includes the novella, Trellis House. Book 6 includes the Third Plot Point and Climax, and also includes the novella, Memorized Darkness. Book 7 stretches from the Climax to the Denouement and End. At the bottom, it says, Riparia Dellbane Historical Fantasy Series, copyright 2024, Christina Anne Hawthorne

I think I need advice on how to avoid an "obvious solution to a plot hole" in a thing I #AmWriting

It's not a huge thing, but MC grew up in foster care, with her bio mom's remains getting connected to her when she was six ... but they still didn't know *who* her mom was. Her father is also unknown ... but MC suspects he might be her mom's killer.

So, now we're in mid 2020s or so. 23&Me and other "find your ancestry!" DNA sites are abundant.

Why wouldn't she "just" use one of those services to track down her family? To be clear, it's not a huge plot about where she's from, but obviously her past is a wound (she was found when she was only a few hours old).

Reasons I've considered:
- Concerned about poking a sleeping bear. If her sperm donor (or, for that matter, someone on her mom's side ...) killed her mom, would they go after her?
- It's not all that important to her, because it's all in the past

I'm deeply immersed in editing right now & my own writing is completely filling my head. It makes it difficult to think about anything else.

So, you get one of mine from Book3, which I'm editing. A difficult realization for a character (2 lines):

“Intelligent and kind, he’d do anything for her, but he wouldn’t take her in his arms, wouldn’t hold her, wouldn’t love her. Not even after she’d seen Red—for him.”

I've been trying to work ahead some... Like I usually try to do. But with the busy times ahead, surgeries for mum and me, health not being the best, Arwen not being the best... 😔 So it's good to have some posts scheduled, that when I don't feel like writing, I know something is still "ready to be shared". 😊
