After you remove all the Meta apps, in Android, go to settings, go to apps, click on "see all", in the top right corner click on that 3 dot button, click show system apps.

Many of you have some Meta / Facebook apps built in to run in the background, even if you do not have an account with us. -- Some of you will be able to select the app and select "disable". Some of you will not have this option.

Those who deal with #Android apps such as #AntennaPod getting killed all the time on #GrapheneOS while running in the background should consider disabling "Secure App spawning" (Settings -> Security & Privacy -> Exploit protection). I have been wondering months about how to get this sorted out and apparently so have many other users if you take a look at the AntennaPod issue tracker.

Keep in mind that you lose a significant security advantage of GrapheneOS when disabling the feature. Learn more about it here: grapheneos.org/usage#exec-spaw

Kurios, dass unter Android (14; Samsung) praktisch keine Einstellungen zum Mikrofon sind. Und dass man bei der (oder irgendeiner, soweit ich das sehe) Telefon-App nicht zwischen verfügbaren Mikros wählen kann.

Das Mikro von den Hörgeräten ist gemessen an der Lage ok, aber Quali von Handy ist doch besser und wäre meist auch problemlos zu nutzen. Über Lautsprecher, um Handy-Mikro zu haben, ist aber wiederum schlecht.

Soo... meine Entscheidung sieht bisher wie folgt aus:
Fairphone ordern über meinen Handyvertrag.
CalyxOS da drauf spielen.
Direkt gucken, welche vorinstallierten Apps sinnvoll sind und wert zu behalten. Danach direkt entmüllen per ADB.
Es ist echt ein Unding, dass sogenannte alternative OS mit vorinstallierten Apps kommen, die man nur über Umwege wieder los wird. Was soll das?
Naja. Jedenfalls ist das mal so der Plan.
Ich werde berichten, wie es geklappt hat.

… Also habe ich den Haken entfernt, dass die Berechtigungen bei Inaktivität entfernt werden sollen. Trotzdem passierte nix bei den Uploads. Vom Führerschein war nur die Rückseite, aber nicht die Vorderseite hochgeladen worden.

Erst als ich via Dateimanager eine Datei via Teilen-Dialog an die Nextcloud-App geschickt hatte, fing sie an, auch die anderen Fotos hochzuladen. Die Berechtigungen scheinen also zu stimmen, nur hat die App wohl nicht jede Änderung an den konfigurierten Ordnern mitbekommen. Kann auch nicht sein, dass die Berechtigungen nach dem Foto der Vorderseite entzogen wurden, denn einen Tag später habe ich Fotos gemacht, die tatsächlich hochgeladen wurden. Ich würde ja sagen, es ist gut, dass Syncthing den Ordner auch noch überwacht. Ich muss die Datenhalden nur mal zusammenführen.

Ich habe mich schon vor ein paar Tagen geärgert, dass die Fotos meines Führerscheins nicht ordentlich zu meiner Nextcloud autoupgeloadet wurden. Heute haben wir Fotos von einem hübschen Käfer gemacht, die auch nicht hochgeladen wurden. Ich habe dann mal recherchiert und bin darauf gestoßen, dass Google der Nextcloud-Android-App die Berechtigung zur Verwaltung aller Dateien entzogen hat (github.com/nextcloud/android/i). War jetzt bei mir aber nicht so, dass gar nichts hochgeladen wurde; es war nur sehr unberechenbar, was hochgeladen wurde. Und wenn etwas nicht hochgeladen wurde, wurde es auch dauerhaft nicht hochgeladen.

Noch merkwürdiger ist, dass ich mit Beginn meiner Degoogling-Bemühungen Apps bevorzugt via F-Droid installiere, und die die dortige Nextcloud-App soll die Einschränkung nicht haben. Wegen Inaktivität wurden der App bei mir aber Berechtigungen entzogen. Ja, Nextcloud soll im Hintergrund arbeiten, ich will die App eigentlich nicht bewusst starten. …

Kannst du dich für die Initiave Linux für Mobil erwärmen? Das heißt ja nicht, dass man jetzt Android nutzt und es gut nutzen kann.

Bei uns stapeln sich Hardware"spenden", die ich mich nicht mehr weitergeben kann, weil Android XY nicht mehr unterstützt wird und damit auch keine Graphenes oder Lineages.

Wegschmeißen oder reine Intranet-Displays, rumgebastel an größere Displays?
Smartphones sind als Fotodisplay oder Smarthomedisplay eher ungeeignet, vorallem nicht im dreistelligen Bereich.

Ein 2nd Life würde mit Linux immer gehen.
Hat sonst jemand Ideen für 5"-6"-WLANfähige Geräte mit 80%-Restkapazität Top-Akkus?

Also, neue Dinge bei der Smartphone Suche, die ich hier vor kurzem beschrieben habe.
Vorher muss ich allerdings dazu schreiben, dass ich mir das Fairphone5 höchst wahrscheinlich über meinen Telekom-Vertrag holen werde. Alles andere ist astronomisch teuer. Und ein anderes möchte ich erstmal nicht - auch wegen der folgenden Frage.
So, jetzt zur eigentlichen Frage:
Wenn ich bei dem Fairphone5 ein neues OS draufspielen wollen würde, welches würdet ihr empfehlen? Ich hatte bisher gelesen von e /OS, CalyxOS und LineageOS. --> Welches dieser Systeme ist am einfachsten für zwei wenig erfahrene Laien zu installieren und später auch zu bedienen? Und welches wird am Ende gut mit Aurora Store zusammen funktionieren? (Ja, ich hab mich doch dafür entschieden). Und bei welchem ist die Gefahr eines Bricks am geringsten?

For my personal calendar, I have #Radicale 3.4.1 installed on a #Debian VPS. It works great, accessing it from #Thunderbird, or the "Fossify Calendar" (from #FDroid) in #Android. I can read and write events from both clients.

I was gifted an iPad, and the default Calendar app lets me have read-only access (only!) to Radicale. When it comes to writing events, that lofty privilege is reserved for iCloud Calendars only, not those riff-raff Calendars that use CalDAV.

Edit: I eventually sorted it out.

I opened a Github "Discussion" thread (for Radicale) on this:

I guess the moral of this story is: Thunderbird, and Fossify Calendar, thanks for being sane! Also, kudos to #Davx5, which I also rely upon a lot in Android, for my CardDAV contacts to work properly - also stored in Radicale.

PS: #Apple is really hoity-toity. I would never choose into buying an Apple device myself, ever again. #DataSovereignty is next to impossible. #OpenSource
