@jon Because from their standpoint it makes perfect sense: Gather all data they can get away with about their users and sell it for nice profits ON TOP OF the license fees they are already paying, which their investors love.

And in one fell swoop finally creating the access all the acronym services have been having wet dreams about for years.

And oh so many people just sleepwalk into it...

With apps, the UI is what you build. With agents in #Microsoft365, the UI is whatever Microsoft happens to do with Copilot. Far too often, that UI is either broken, inconsistent, or different from the last time.

How are regular #Copilot users supposed to live with this exactly? As an example, access to "Get Agents" has been broken for 5 days now, due to a known issue. No functioning workaround from MS.

If you are an office worker of any kind please understand Copilot Recall for what it is: Microsoft wants a training dataset of _what your job looks like_ in order to _replace you_. The nepo baby your oligarch puts in charge will happily pay half your salary to Microsoft to get even most of your job done without you.

Wealth wants access to skill without giving the skilled access to wealth.

A Mastodon Poll: "Do you think Microsoft understand what consent is?"
Options are "Yes" and "Remind me again in three days"

This will affect you even if you haven't enabled the so called "feature" or not even using Windows. This can ultimately spy on your conversations with somebody who uses Recall.

In case you forgot about Microsoft Recall, it looks like it will reappear in your Copilot+ computer soon running Windows 11.

I am sure you are all thrilled with the idea of a screenshot being taken of your screen every 3 seconds, right?

@thurrott So, I see whats happening here, the focus is #Copilot PC's get exclusives, but anything prior to July 2024 is planned obsolescence. I am so glad I am down to just one #Windows PC, once it stops getting feature updates, its a big spend on a #Mac Studio and Studio Display.

When #microsoft adds #CoPilot to effin' #notepad and #meta adds an #AI option to #WhatsApp you know that the lunatics have taken over the asylum. Rational decision making has gone completely out the window with these companies. They see a shiny new bandwagon and by golly they're going to jump on it, whether it makes sense or not.

For the love of all that is holy, or unholy, make it STAHP

A hot topic in #GLAMR -- and this paper makes a good fist of understanding AI's limitations. Large differentials between #ChatGPT, and #CoPilot / #Gemini.

"this [study] underscores the continued importance of human labor in subject #cataloging work [...] #AI tools may prove more valuable in assisting catalogers especially in subject heading assignment, but continued testing & assessment will be needed..."
