Personal Anecdote: Being a poor boy born in South Philly in the Sixties, it never entered my mind that one day I would be strolling in the Grand-Place in Brussels with a beautiful bride. Just as I entered the square, a tall skinny local boy with a guitar and small amp broke into a note-perfect version of this song. The marriage might have ended, but some things of beauty span both time and space. #JukeboxFridayNight #NotForgotten #Music

We celebrate the immortals tonight for #JukeboxFridayNight #NotForgotten #Music. If you can't ever imagine your life without the music of these various people then fill up your glass, fire up your lighter and raise it high in the air. We'll kick it off with a few musical ruminations about the nature of life, led by someone long gone but never forgotten who wonders aloud about life without love itself.

One Jukebox Friday Night theme is "Music Awards", and maybe the greatest award is being chosen to represent music by humans on the Voyager 1 and 2 disks:

"Ketawang: Puspåwarnå (Kinds of Flowers)" attributed to Prince Mangkunegara IV of Surakarta (1811-1881)

Performed by the Pura Paku Alaman Palace Orchestra with Niken Larasati and Nji Tasri on vocals, directed by K.R.T. Wasitodipuro, 1971.

They were in the “Urgh a Music War” movie being very trippy for my suburban sensibilities.. saw them much later - around the time this was out… always have time for a band with a Theremin 🫸📡

My friend's a stooge for the media priests
In the morning with his hand on his heart
He keeps the world safe from falling apart

Here's Dire Straits' powerful classic, Brothers in Arms.

It seems appropriate for ANZAC day in NZ, celebrating our war veterans, and it also seems appropriate for this crazed world that has still not learned that war is never the answer.

"But it's written in the starlight
And every line in your palm
We're fools to make war
On our brothers in arms"

"At this moment, you should be with us,
feeling like we do …"

This, for me, hits a peak in not forgetting people important to you for whatever reason.

Xiola Blue (Lisa Chester, 1968-1987) visited LA to attend her father's funeral. Her stay inspired this 1986 song, and she was depicted as the centre figure in the original cover art for the LP, "Ritual de lo Habitual".

Jukebox Friday Night has double themes, "Not Forgotten" (those lost or lost to view), and "Music Awards" (winners and nominees).

There's one kind favour I'll ask of you once I'm gone, so as not to be forgotten –

Lightnin' Hopkins, "One Kind Favor" (1961)

Originally written and recorded by Blind Lemon Jefferson in 1927 and 1928 as "See That My Grave Is Kept Clean".
