laatst sprak ik met iemand die zich verbaasde over de populariteit van stoïcisme: waarom deze denkstroming, nu? het is een filosofie bedacht door machthebbers, invloedrijke mensen zoals #MarcusAurelius (keizer) en #Seneca (adviseur vd keizer).

maar het is geen filosofie vóór machthebbers, eerder eentje voor volgers. want de belangrijkste les is dat je niet aan de macht kan toornen, dat je je moet schikken naar je lot, zoals Sophie Hermans dat hier illustreert a.d.h.v. internationale regelgeving
