My partner noted black tarps covering U.S. wines was removed - shelved items replaced with non-American products.

I was initially worried (when she told me) that the U.S. products were back ... NOPE! ️

Busy day today, but I still managed to sneak into St. Paul and Barely Bros Records for #RecordStoreDay. While places like the Electric Fetus and Urban Lights music had DJs advertised, I got to browse while the live band did their sound check. Despite it being PACKED, I did manage to find a couple of #minnesota local bands.

So I mentioned the fediverse to Jolita and Martin when I was there getting my watch strap resized and now they’re on it :)

They’re a tiny two-person jewelry/watch shop in Bray, Ireland.

It has been clear for a while now that we’re going to need to support each other to get through this. And now that literally trillions have been lost from our economy that will take years (if not decades) to repair, it’s clear we’re going to need to do it monetarily, too.

I urge you to modify your purchasing paths and maybe commit to supporting your local businesses, artisans, and local charities whenever you can.

I know it’s not always feasible or realistic to say “Boycott this chain forever!” or “This man is evil, don’t support him!” Sometimes they’re unavoidable.

BUT. You can mitigate their impact. It is with in your power to make small shifts. To develop new habits. To try new things. To choose not to use Amazon or big-chain stores once in a while. To choose to go out of your way every now and then to pay a little more in order to support your neighbor’s business. To donate your coffee creamer money to charity one week and use milk and sugar instead.

I’m not saying shift your life to make completely new purchasing choices. I am asking you to try opening yourself up to your community and valuing things in a different way more often than you may be doing.

There are many more broke folks out there than not. Many more small businesses than not. And those local connections appreciate your business more than those other folks will ever do.

I've been out of the loop and I am sure there are people with experience here.

Preferably one with a matured API (and a Python library would be a nice bonus).

For the past few, it's been weekly or biweekly, S,M,L, user preferences saved, notifications two days out to adjust your share among what is available, an online calendar to skip or reschedule, veggies bagged up in compostable plastic with your personalized label stickered on. All with a mobile friendly web portal that seems built for many farms the same way a few carry out platforms service every small restaurant in your neighborhood.

Yes, it might cost a little more, but you're redirecting money away from corporations that thrive on low wages and putting it straight into your community—where it can grow, support jobs, and build something better.

Just had the loveliest experience while getting my watch strap resized at Silver Phoenix in Bray. They’re a tiny, independent two-person jewellers – Jolita and Martin – and they took such care (Martin resized it three times and did a micro-adjustment and then undid it until we found the perfect fit).

In a world of faceless corporations you forget sometimes how lovely people can be.

So if you’re looking for jewellery, a watch, wallet or pen (or repairs/sizing/etc.), give them a shout and support a tiny local business that’s been going for five years now.
