It's a lot of waiting. And waiting sucks.

You're waiting for your first appointment, waiting to start #HRT, waiting for HRT to start working, waiting for hair to grow, waiting for surgeries, waiting for recovery, waiting for hair removal to work, waiting for insurance, waiting, waiting, waiting.

For me, voice work was my antidote to waiting. It was something I could do when I was otherwise wildly frustrated with the slow pace. It was one of the few things in this process that truly felt like it was in my control.

But now? I my voice. Yeah, I'm going to keep working on it as part of recovery. But right now it's sounds amazing and it's only getting better.

So, I mean, success to be sure. But what now? What can I hyperfixate on for the 4 months and 5 days?

Latest Trans progress stuff:

Still need to get my real name updated with my vehicle registration, treasury/property tax, and birth certificate. After I get the new cert I can get a passport I think.

HRT appointment in 3 weeks. A 90 minute drive, but future appointments are hopefully telehealth, sigh.

Hair is feeling and looking better, wish it grew faster but we lightened without bleach + other hair care stuff and it's staying soft/flexible.

Wer oder was treibt Transitionen an? Kann #soziologie dazu Gehaltvolles sagen, und weder nur auf #komplexität (alles hängt mit allem zusammen) noch auf einfache Kausalitäten (die waren’s) verweisen? Reminder that 'transition' is not a shorthand for 'medical transition'.

Transition includes social transition AND personal transition. Transition can be changing your name, your pronouns, your presentation.

Transition can be changing your internal sense of self understanding and nothing else.

And yes, transition can be hormones and surgeries, and any possible combination of social, personal, and medical changes.

Accepting and acknowledging what transition means to you (either in your reality or in an ideal world) does not invalidate or in any way harm what it means to anyone else.

Being trans and transitioning are personal, and they are as widely and beautifully varied as humanity itself.

Let's just revel in that beauty.

I just saw a few things:

∘ Psytrans, my Dutch Genderclinic is now contracted with four health-insrance providers: Menzis (mine), OWM Zorgverzekeraa Zorg en Zekerheid, CZ / Ohra / Nationale Nederlanden, and ONVZ. That means you no longer need a (non-existing) restitutie-policy anymore to get full coverage from your health-insurance!

∘ Today was one of the days where they announced whether they have space and they did not have any. This sounds bad, but it means that there is a pretty good chance that they will have space next month! (Previous period was also three months between opening the list.)

⇒ If you have Genderdysphoria in the Netherlands and need an official diagnosis for access to care, you have a real chance to get a pretty reasonable offer, if you sign up on their website, on the 6th of october at 09:00:00 (sharp!!!), since it’s first-come-first-serve to get on their rather short 3 month waiting list!

(Seriously though: when I say “sharp”, I mean it. This is competitive and pretty much the only official place in NL with this kind of deal, do not be a minute late or there is a very real chance that it will be too late!)
