I get a lot of inquisitive engagement over my habit of riding to work - well, as I left yesterday I saw my boss leaving to run home (he’s an ultra runner)… building exercise into a commute is often the only way of maintaining a time intensive sporting activity. Excerpt: "One night, on the last Friday of the month in September of 1992, Carlsson and a group of friends decided to take action. They planned to gather at Embarcadero Plaza, right by the Ferry Building in downtown San Francisco, and ride home together. They called the ride 'The #Commute lot.'

" 'We were asserting our right to the streets, essentially. One of the slogans that came out that period was that we’re not blocking traffic, we are traffic. So if you’re sick of being treated like crap on the streets of the city, show up for this thing and ride home in a group. About 50 people showed up,' said Carlsson."

Saturday: thunder + rain at home, rain and a little hail (no thunder loud enough to hear from noisy inside, at work in #RockyMountainHouse). Impressive clouds for the #commute home in the evening. Then we had a snowfall warning for Sunday night through Monday- now Monday only modest rain earlier, just turned to snow 3pm #weather #ABStorm #sunset #landscape #Photography

From the moving car- across a mowed dry grass road side ditch, then a wire and post fence followed by a winter faded pale pasture, in dusky shadow, with knee-high ungrazed grass or a failed unmowed crop? Beyond is an area of mixed woods with bare poplars and dark spruce, more woodland farther back. A light coloured building/roof is visible through the trees to the left. The sky fills about half the frame with a distant thunderstorm low in the sky across the entire frame. The storm is lit by the setting sun off to the right out of frame so the effect is a long dense white to faintly gold-pink wall of cloud, darker below. Some of it is large smooth areas with some of the classic bubbly cauliflower texture on edges and some fine darker ribbons in front. Above is blue sky with some darker wisps.

From the moving car, looking across a roadside ditch with long dry grass, then a wire and post fence, with a wetland pasture beyond with clumpy bumpy hummocky land covered with grazed dry grass. Farther back another fence and dry grass field probably hayed. To the left and right distant dark woodland, farther back still in the centre. To left of centre is a distant pumpjack at an oil well, along with several small outbuildings showing light against the dark woods. Some small object on or near the distant fenceline, probably metal, catches light from the sky and shines bright against the dull ground. The dramatic sky is around half the frame. The sun is going down, a pale gold glow behind cloud in centre. Thunder clouds sweep up from the horizon to each side of the centre, all the way to the top on the left, to mid sky on the right. These clouds are dark blue grey and smooth in the centre, with wind direction visible in places and looser textue on the top edges. Between these two sweeps, an area of thin clouds partly masks the sun's glow below and patches of blue sky above to each side, with bits and bobs and wisps of darker grey in front.

#Sunset from the #commute last #weekend The season when I can see sunsets at home is now gone, mainly- it happens once I'm inside, now, plus it has moved north so it is blocked by the woods on the farm (in winter I see it over the bare neighbours' fields) . At the back of the field is a line of mixed woods, dark spruce and bare poplars.The sun is near setting behind the trees to the right, creating a large white gold mass shining thorugh thin clouds, with another dimmer smaller ball of light on top- like a snow man made of sunlight? Or maybe Bird Goddess- markings on the smaller ball could be facial features. Around those bright zones the clouds are golden orange dulling with distance till they fade into violet grey then blue-grey.The clouds are even and thin above the trees, with a strip of darkeruneven, loose edged cloud above that (maybe dropping some faint bits of rain). Above that faint pinky wisps drift on fading blue.

@GhostOnTheHalfShell Gladly I do #WorkFromHome >99% of the time so I'm not required to #commute and there's good, affordable #PublicTransport in #Germany (at least in the urban area I live in)...

That doesn't mean #CarCentrism is good - it's evidently shit and every car on the road is a failure of public transport!
