My #Discord account got banned because they are sure I am a minor. They want an official government ID that proofs I am old enough use Discord. They want a picture showing me holding the ID and holding a sheet of paper with my username written down.

People like me who do not want to give their ID to random companies will now not have access to their account, their connections.

I don't like the new look for #Discord . I don't like the pop-ups to play some kind of game. I don't like the store. I don't like the monetization of it as a platform. I don't like that everyone seems to use it in lieu of forums. I'm deliberating going away from Discord even if there are many groups on it which I would miss. Yet another social media / messenger anything which gets destroyed by capitalism.

#Discord is a terrible communication platform with all its distractions and malfeatures. I've used it to stay in touch with #lisp programmers that are not on IRC nor on fediverse. But today they've crossed the line - they've shown me an ad, an ad that has obfucaed the chat at that. I've disabled the account and not going to use it anymore. Good ridding I guess.
