Inca tern (Larosterna inca)

Inca terns are striking birds with a slate-gray body, a bright red-orange beak and legs, and a distinctive white "moustache." They are agile fliers, often seen hovering or diving into the water to catch fish. These social birds nest in large colonies on coastal cliffs, engaging in intricate courtship displays during the breeding season.

Conservation status: Near Threatened (IUCN 3.1)

Distribution: The Pacific coasts of Chile, Ecuador and Perú.
