Mild night produced 14 #moths of 5 species. Still the usual quakers and drabs, but had a mint Hebrew Character, and probably my very earliest Bright-line Brown-eye - not the prettiest of moths, but this is particularly early in the year to be seeing them.

03/04/2025 - Gorse in April
4th month of trying to take a photo of flowering gorse each month for a year. The sunshine on the gorse looked so nice today on our walk. Just a slow stroll after a late visit to a hill last night.
Gorse is full of life. Most of it small but still as magic as anything we come across on our walks.

Another fabulous bumblebee scarab beetle, again inside a poppy flower in our back garden. Missing from the above site is the answer to, "How do I clean a bamboo insect hotel?" The answer, of course, is that you can't — there's no easy way to open them, plus they are often glued in place. And if bees are nesting in the same stems year after year, so are Houdini flies, parasitic wasps, mites, dermestid beetles, fungi, and bacteria.
