A lifer bird for me: Trumpeter Swans* (Cygnus buccinator). What a noise! Their name makes sense 🎺 .
They only stay here briefly, waiting for more water opening up further north.

*correction: They are Tundra Swans (Cygnus columbianus). An endangered species.

Along this short stretch of the Serpent River there are several of these Willow (?) Trees. They really stand out in the snow, with their golden colour among all those grey birches.
Are they Peachleaf Willows? Would be slightly out of range, but they are in a very sheltered area.
