If you've wondered what the rainbow pentagon thing is on here, it's the Fediverse logo :fediverse:

It's a public domain design, you can use it for any purpose, there's a high quality copy at:

commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Fil

Technically there can never be an official logo as there's no central authority on the Fediverse, but this is by far the most widely used symbol of this place.

It represents all the different kinds of servers that make up this shared network. (More info: fedi.tips/what-other-kinds-of-)

@feditips The image name says proposal... who decides anyway?

@feditips @Miname The consensus of the community as a whole, the closest you can get to official is the W3C's logo for the ActivityPub protocol.

@mark @feditips okey. I prefer ActivityaPub. Not only because of look but because it makes technically sense.

From when was this "consense"? Before or after Elon bought Twitter?

@Miname @mark

The Fediverse doesn't necessarily mean AP, other protocols have been used in the past, and maybe in the future there will be other protocols replacing AP.

The Fediverse still remains whatever protocol it uses, so it needs a symbol separate from specific protocols.
