@mastomememakers We get regular updates on the size of the Fediverse, and we've seen remarkable support for this social media model, far more support for open standards, community-based share-economy networking than I expected to see in my lifetime!
But yesterday I got curious: what has been our impact on the bird? So I looked it up. 316 million pre-pandemic, 368 million today.
@teledyn if you compare pre pandemic numbers, i can tell you as a birdsite veteran, that ther was a big wave of new arrivals on twitter at the wake of covid and imho an even bigger with the start of the war, while things here really took off in #eternalnovember when the musk takeover finalized.
personally i see the whole more as a marathon. on the other hand our community here is imho to fixated on twitter. facebook (global south) is way bigger. just to say.
