I am from a country of mountains, every cell of my body carries the mountains, I walk them, I dream them and I feel them.
With these three photos that I took on my many hikes through the mountains throughout my country, I celebrate International Mountain Day.

This photo is in the heart of the central Andes in Chile, at the foot of rocky mountains with purple and white cones on their slopes, a watercourse runs through the valley of sparse vegetation of brown and intense green colors, steppes of iros and coirones (grasses with hard and sharp leaves) above the mountains a deep blue sky.
In this photo is the great guardian of the city of Santiago de Chile, the El Plomo hill with its imposing solid figure covered with a lenticular cloud.
This photo is from the Juncal Andino Park in Chile. You can see the high mountain peaks of the park, their dark grey stone peaks, with snow reliefs. On the slopes of the mountains there are shades of terracotta brown, at the foot of the mountains there is sand and steppe vegetation of iros and coirones (grasses with hard and sharp leaves).

Beautiful Monster

As today is International Mountain Day, I thought I'd share my favourite #volcano.

This is Hekla, derived from Old Norse word meaning "cloak" or "hooded."
This peak is usually covered by a cap of cloud. At one of our shoots, we were lucky and delighted to find that the pinnacle was visible for once!

Every time we've visited, Hekla is always awe-inspiring.

September 2014 A photo of a mountain behind browned grassland and under a cloudy sky. The shape of the upper slopes isn't visible as the summit is entirely covered in layers of thick cloud. There is part of a river in the close foreground.
October 2021 A photo of the same mountain, this time the peak is clear but covered in snow and ice. The flanks are comprised of dark rock and the foreground is withered pasture with water cutting through it. Overhead the sky is full of heavy snow cloud.
