Paolo Amoroso<p>Building Medley Interlisp from source has been dramatically faster since the past week or so: it now takes 1/3 of what it used to. I didn't modify the setup of my Linux Mint 22.1 Cinnamon box other than the usual system updates, and there were no recent major performance related changes to Medley.</p><p>I'm really happy but wonder about the source of the speedup. Pete<p>Yesterday, I converted an old HP laptop to <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>linux</span></a> Mint. The trackpad refused to work.<br>After much faffing about, the trackpad suddenly decided to work after one of many reboots.<br>I have no idea what I did to make it work (the reason for this particular reboot was nothing to do with anything done to make the trackpad functional).<br>Can someone who knows more than me explain what might have happened?<br>In the past I had a similar experience with an old Surface tablet that I converted, again with no clue why it decided to suddenly work.<br>I would really like to understand this for future reference! <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/LinuxMint" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>LinuxMint</span></a></p>
