But for the Exceed I always had the @Apidura Backcountry Full Frame Pack in the 4 Liter size in mind. Because I knew from their online fitting tool that it would be a near perfect fit from the size and the angles and with just 4 L I was willing to bet on limited „bulging tendencies“. Also I wanted to test putting a bladder in there and Apidura do have these special form fitting hydration bladders in 1.5 and 3 l volume available. So I just went and bought the pack and the 1.5 l bladder. To use in conjunction or just the frame pack alone. Yesterday was the first mounting and test ride. As you can see, it fits indeed nearly like custom made into the frame of my Exceed in Size S. Yes, the bottom and front corners stay empty. But that’s only a slight bummer. In the space just above the bottom bracket I can put a spare inner tube and just behind the steerer tube… well, w/o hose there could reside a musette maybe. And with hose… ye, then it’s ok as it is, I guess. Of course it bulges, even when just filled with the 1.5 l bladder, a rain jacket with hood, legwarmers and two energy bars. And - yeah… I really would want a bag with just enough reinforced sides so that it would bulge even less! If at all. The good news: It doesn’t interfere with my legs. Even with my muscular calves. The only part which nearly and then only sometimes could potentially „caress“ my legs would indeed be the smaller rear upper zip handle as I found. That’s very ok. But - it’s not perfect. And I will always have to be wary to fill the bag only lightly.
