Benji Mauer<p>I’m weirdly obsessed with <a href="https://social.coop/tags/HVAC" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HVAC</span></a>. Carrier announced a complete air-to-water <a href="https://social.coop/tags/heatpump" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>heatpump</span></a> system earlier this year. It does heating, cooling, and domestic hot water. I did not expect them to bring it to market so quickly, but it’s no longer a press release: <a href="https://www.carrier.com/residential/en/us/products/heat-pumps/33nm3/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">carrier.com/residential/en/us/</span><span class="invisible">products/heat-pumps/33nm3/</span></a> <a href="https://social.coop/tags/hydronics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>hydronics</span></a> <a href="https://social.coop/tags/decarbonization" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>decarbonization</span></a></p>

Both my heat pumps are operating in standard compressor mode (no emergency mode needed yet). The central unit has been running for 2 continuous hours so far, drawing only ~2kW with a periodic short 10kW defrost spike. It doesn't really get that cold on Ohio anymore so I thought we could go work just a heat pump. Does anyone else have such a system? Or maybe just a heat pump and can comment on how they like their setup.</p><p>Please boost if you don't mind.</p>
