Licho
There's a #misconception about the #timespace speed limit, the speed of light. It seems that if you're determined to travel to another galaxy you won't live to see it. But the truth is that you can actually travel arbitrarily fast, if you only consider the on-board, local time. If you forget what you're leaving behind, you can go anywhere as fast as you go. The Lorentz transform will take care of everything. You can get to Andromeda in a day. You can get there in a minute. Just need to go faster. Lorentz contraction will take care of it. You can get there in a second. You can go arbitrarily fast! The outside observer will see you frozen in time when traveling.

#physics #relativity #specialrelativity

Chuck Darwin
Thousands of senior citizens died in Los Angeles while homeless in the past 10 years,
with
♦️residents age 60 and over representing a quarter of all deaths of unhoused people♦️
in that period,
according to a Guardian analysis of public records.

A common #misconception about California’s homelessness crisis
is that the majority of people on the streets are young adults who came from out-of-state,
drawn to warm weather and homeless services.

But death reports obtained by the Guardian reveal
more than 3,000 of the 11,500 people who died while unhoused in Los Angeles county between 2014 and 2023
were 60 and older,
🔸highlighting the vulnerability of older residents in one of the US’s most expensive regions.

The crisis has grown over time, the records indicate.
Last year, the Los Angeles county medical examiner recorded a record high of 496 deaths of older and elderly unhoused people,
nearly four times the fatalities from 10 years earlier.

The records also reveal that:

💥More than 1,700 of the unhoused people age 60 and over who died probably lived unsheltered. They were found in alleys, tents, encampments, bus stops, parks, yards, parking lots, cars, RVs and sidewalks and other locations suggesting they may have been living outside.

💥About 1,500 deaths of the deaths were ruled “natural”, attributed to causes like heart failure, liver disease and Covid; 1,355 deaths were labeled “accidental”, including drug overdoses and traffic collisions; 74 were homicides; and 44 were suicides.

💥Elderly people far past the age of retirement died on the streets and in homeless shelters: A total of 221 people age 75 and older have died while unhoused since 2014, including dozens of people in their 80s and two 92-year-olds.

💥Black Angelenos were disproportionately represented in the death toll, making up 33% of older people who died while unhoused, while only 9% of the broader county population is Black.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/article/2024/aug/08/homeless-senior-citizen-deaths-los-angeles?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other

verse
There are many misconceptions about Jihad and many wrongly associate Islam with terrorism because of this.

Some people think Jihad is any war done by Muslims for any reason. It is not.

Some people think Jihad means “Holy War”. It does not.

Some people think Quran says to kill all disbelievers in the world who are not Muslims. It does not.

Islam is a religion of peace. If it supported these above, nobody would accept it except criminals. But the reality is different. People understand the philosophy of Islam. Islam is the fastest growing religion now.

Let me share the things I found out so that the misconceptions can be clarified.

Jihad means “striving” or “struggling”. Besides meaning physical fight in some cases, it can also mean things other than war. So Jihad always doesn’t mean physical fight.

For example, to strive to fight with ones own inner (evil) desires is also Jihad, which does not exactly paint the picture of “war” in our minds. Dr. Zakir Naik explains the word Jihad in this video:

Concept of Jihad in Islam – Dr Zakir Naik by Dr Zakir Naik channel

Misquotes and using verses out of context is one of the main problems why this misconception exists. They selectively quote 9:5, 8:60 while not quoting verses that come after them, like 9:6, 8:61 etc. Lack of knowledge about Islamic history is another problem. They only see the fight but don’t know the background behind the fight.

“Islam allows fighting as a last resort” is mentioned in the conclusion of the video above, which I think any logical person on this earth would agree. Even outside religion, defending oneself is a logical civil right. It is about people who are under attack and has no other choice but to fight. As I mentioned before Jihad also has other contexts which does not involve physically fighting at all. Here are the types of Jihad:

CW: Audio link given, video contains women in tight clothing [around 3:11-3:17], women without hijab [around 3:46-3:55]

The 13 TYPES of JIHAD in Islam | Misconceptions Finally Removed by Pink Pastel Studio channel

This page has more information on the types. The page is full of things that are not related to physical fighting. Only a small part of it is. And that even has conditions like that the nation has been attacked (allowing fighting in defense) etc. I would request people to ponder, if some nation is under attack, what are they supposed to do?

All the Jihad of physical fight that prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) did were done either for defense or punitive measure. The following video concludes that it “was never an instrument of injustice. It was never an instrument of promoting religion by forcing people to accept Islam. It was always a noble cause of justice, defending victims of injustice and who needed protection from oppressors.”

Jihad series: If Islam is a religion of peace, why did the Prophet (pbuh) fight battles? by Navigate Islam channel

Here are two postings from a channel named Talk Islam that respond on Jihad and other things that addresses what people wrongly think about them:

Islam is NOT a Religion of Peace - MUSLIM RESPONSE by Talk Islam channel

Note: “Islam is NOT a Religion of Peace” is just for the title. It actually talks against this notion. Watch the video to get an idea.

CW: Audio link given, contains women without hijab [around 4:04-4:07, 4:47-4:59]

JESUS V MUHAMMAD [pbut] !! | MUSLIM RESPONSE | MISCONCEPTIONS by Talk Islam channel

May the Almighty make them realize.

#Islam #terrorism #terrorists #Jihad #peace #misconception #misunderstanding #explanation #Muslims #Quran #verses
