Having a blast playing #X4Foundations. I haven’t played a game quite like it. Comparisons to #EliteDangerous doesn’t paint a complete picture; it more like a cross of ED with a bit of #Stellaris. Last night I was completing a mission while one of my other AI-controller ships completed another unrelated mission! All while my mining ship was making me passive income. I am thrilled.
@astromecanik I started playing it again couple weeks ago and am totally hooked now - just conquered my first sector from the Xenon with my fleet of 14 destroyers there are some really quality of life mods that make the gameplay so much smoother and more enjoyable, let me know if you are interested in my list!

Makes sense to let one of your smaller ships explore all the sectors for you to find all the stations - very useful if you have at least 1 autotrader

@astromecanik and if you need to make a quick buck: look out for all those "Setup Satellite Network" missions - little bit tedious but they bring in money fast :)
@maxbob right now, I’m having trouble getting my station built. I don’t know how to exactly setup a trader to go and get the required materials to start construction. I hired a builder already, but it’s currently idling outside the station.
@astromecanik for a simple manual start, buy the wares manually with a freight ship and then select the ship, right click on your station and select the “Transfer wares for station building” option - the at will add the inventory to your builder and they can start. If you look at your construction site you can actually see a huge cube floating alongside it - that is your building storage :)

@maxbob sorry for the continuing questions, but there’s nothing like a more knowledgeable player to help each other. Regarding the player hq, isn’t it supposed to “get visits” from NPC traders and buy whatever is required to build the modules?
@astromecanik yes, in theory that is how its supposed to work. But then you have to factor in stuff like general availability of the wares in your neighbourhood, price settings what you are willing to pay for them etc. - no AI trader will jump 15 sectors to deliver goods if they can just make a profit of 1 credit per unit. So it's best to manually scout with a trader for those items and deliver them to the station. And that is where the sector satellite service mod comes in VERY handy :)
@astromecanik And when I say "manual trader" I mean a trader that you own and don't fly it yourself. Just give it the trade commands etc.

@astromecanik I used to play X2 and X3 before that but to be honest, it took me 10 attempts or so to finally get the hang of X4 and don't quit it again totally frustrated after 10 minutes gameplay ... :D
@astromecanik Send a ship out to collect all wares from your other capital ships and transfers them over to your personal wares so you can sell them all to a trader at a station - makes really sense when you have the "Capital ship loot management" enabled

@astromecanik When you have capital ships and they get in a fight, they afterwards automatically collect all dropped loot - way less micro managing!

@astromecanik Later in the game when money is no object anymore, send out a ship that drops a satellite next to every station and gate in every sector (just deducts 6k from your bank account per drop) - super helpful for your traders! Fun part: it is even aware of all the stations you have not discovered yet, so its even more efficient (and expensive) than the Sector explorer mod

@astromecanik Somehow the game logic is off when you need to level up your pilots to make them advanced auto traders. This way you just buy the training seminars for all levels.
