This idea - found via @fj and @temptoetiam - to install solar panels between train tracks strikes me as ridiculous
Railway tracks are grimy. Things fall off trains, like melting snow mixed with grit in winter. You can't incline the panels. How are you going to keep the panels clean enough? Because you absolutely don’t want to stop the train traffic to do it
@jon I only say „#Gleisschotterbettungsreinigungsmaschine“ - really curious to see how that machine works together with the solar panels.

Not to defend the solar panel between tracks idea (yes, you heard it coming: but in theory there would be far less dirt in the Gleisschotterbettung because it would stay on top of the solar panels.
So you would need a new machine to clean them & you'd have to clean them at rather short intervals I assume. So not a good/workable idea.
New automatic machine:
Disconnectiong electricity, lifting up panel carefully and puting aside carefully, renewing Gleischotterbett, transporting panel to the end of machine carefully, repositionig panel on exact former position carefully, reconnecting to electricity carefully!
Wait…
