Our first full day in the mountains of the Serranía de #Ronda with our guests was full emersion mountain #Birding!

Iberian Grey #Shrikes, Black #Wheatears, Blue Rock #Thrushes and Rock #Bunting encounters with Griffon #Vultures a constant companion as Golden Eagles, Bonelli´s Eagles and the first of 2025 Black Kites soared overhead!

We finished the day amongst a Choughnado! With masses of Red-billed #Chough noisily coming to roost!

Today I was in #Leer for a tea ceremony at the #Bünting Tea Museum. The #tea (true East Frisian tea, of course) was delicious, so were the biscuits, and everyone present had a really good time. Here are a few impressions from the museum (and of course there is tea, too, starting with picture 5). #Ostfriesland #EastFrisia#TeaCeremony

Looking at last Friday’s bird photos, and I’d love an external opinion. I managed to take a few photos of these elusive little ~sparrow-sized jobbers we kept seeing in the underbrush of a scrubwood margin on Sauvie Island. The only good match I’ve found for them is female or immature Lazuli Buntings, which would be a lifer for me. Anyone with more #bunting experience have an opinion?

EDITED: Lazuli Bunting Consensus!

(Sauvie Island, Columbia River, NW #Oregon, May 24)

Some photos from my short hike on Monday morning in Kavala. Very nice weather, lots of small animals and flowers. Was definitely worth it.

Featuring: a honeybee full of pollen diving inside a prickly pear cactus flower, a panoramic view of Kavala from above with the island Thassos in the background, a cirl bunting sitting in a tree and a Greek tortoise in the middle of the path that was unfortunately afraid of my steps.
