Soooo. Had an "invite" to connect with a recruiter. Started to do a little digging into the company and didn't have to go far until I found this. What in Zeus's name is this crap? 10% of the _annual_ salary?! F*ck off. Watch out, people; the bottom feeders are trying to hunt at shallower depths. 😡

Re-tooting myself from a few months ago because I interviewed Friday for a financial analyst position within the University that I currently work for, but I also found out that my best work friend was also a candidate for this position and it frustrates me that our department would purposely put us against each other for the opportunity to move into the role. So,

“It's a long shot, but if anyone comes across a listing for, or is looking for someone with administrative, accounting positions, I'm in the market! I'm open to just about anything, but experience-wise, I currently work as one of the purchasing accountants for the Department of Medicine at a major US university, have a degree in accounting, am proficient with spreadsheets, running and creating financial reports, comfortable presenting information in front of others, and a fantastic team player. Currently living near Denver, Colorado and looking for remote work.
Bonus: I would love to work for a company that is headquartered in the EU, but would also love a global team, in general.” #jobHunt #getFediHired #help

When they weren't, and I got a reason for them not continuing, it was organizational reasons about half the time: the company went broke, changed its mind, cancelled the offer altogether.

My learing: companies right now are lost and clueless. Hiring is a mess. But it's not hopeless. Just a numbers game. Never give up, do everything to maximize your number of applications sent, and to speed the process up.

I had 59 interviews (first, second, third rounds) in total. The successful processes took 8 weeks.

I never heard back from about third of companies. When I heard back, it took up to two months. Surprisingly, the number of companies I never heard from again after two or three rounds was high - I'd say I got ghosted half the time I reached that stage.

Hey, since I'm starting work again next month, and I know lots of folks are still jobhunting: some perspective and experience. And numbers.

So I was oow for 9 months. I wrote 800 applications, got two offers. In the one I accepted, there were 400 other applicants.

Hello #Rotterdam
I am urgently looking for a part-time job starting september 8 (or later).
I won't be very picky, but it needs to be easily accessible by public transport or bike and be compatible with studying.

I am also more than available for freelance jobs on webdesign, print and digital communication, graphic design.

Retoots more than welcome :boost_requested:

Well, shit. Best opportunity for a new job just blew up on the home stretch.

I shouldn't be too upset, maybe. The GM in charge behaved pretty weird these last 10 days. Might have been an indicator of problems. Well, they're someone else's now.

That's a new one. Weeks after I forgot about it, I get the usual "It's not you, it's the million other applicants"-mail.

And then two minutes later, the confirmation mail to say I applied successfully.

Did they let the intern play with the console?

Just had a weird job hunt experience. I applied for a position with a US company that seemed reasonable (even though, y'know, eveything). Their hiring manager contacts me with yet another offer. We discuss it, then suddenly, it's contract work. I've never done that, only have a rough idea on what I'd need to make to end up with the same outcome (taxes, insurance, social...). I ask a friend, look up some websites, factor in the exchange rate...

The answer was "OMG no".

Yeah, well

Hello network !

As my previous client failed to a : offer proper contract extentions and b : never managed to pay me in time, I am looking for something new in the freelance IT Infrastructure PM field.

I've done it all from boxmoving servers to setting up 5G antennas for forklifts in manufacturing, logistics, finance, food & beverage up to funeral parlors.

My linkedin is identical to my resume so I'll just point you there : linkedin.com/in/franky/

Sharing (boosting) is caring ! Kiitos.

Updated my CV recently. Doc here as usual: bit.ly/juhocven

CC0 public domain, so use freely wherever.

P.S. I dislike Google, but in this case Docs is just very handy: easy to update, downloads available in various formats, print-ready, and somewhat works on mobile too. Suggestions for workable alternatives are welcome.
