My first steps in 3D modelling.
I created the Flower of Life in OpenSCAD. #openscad is a code-based open-source #3Dmodelling software. I am receiving my 3D printer soon, to be able to print it out.

A little fidget thing my daughter asked me to make and print. It's amazing what you can make in a few lines of OpenSCAD code. The two parts should slot into each other, but I'm expecting to have to iterate a little on the clearances.

Question about #3dprinting #openscad: Can I print a value in the Customizer? As in, calculate a value from some of the inputs and print it to make things more convenient for the user
Now printing out a prototype hinge for a set of wind deflectors for the Stupid Car. Let's see if they
a) fit
b) withstand 60mph+ winds.
Kostenloser #OpenScad Code für euch alle:

Sorry #OpenSCADClub but I've been slammed with work lately! Here's a thing I did a while back I finally got around to posting.
I'm wondering if anyone has a better way of doing a 3D printed cutter design by loading in an SVG file...
(Code is the same for each example, only the SVG is different.)

Well, here it is! I did a tiny mistake somewhere in the calculations, so it's not going all the way back but it doesn't change much, there's only half a cm of space which wouldn't fit another hook anyway.
It's been a while since I've been printing a #3Dmodel of my own making, but it's always such a special feeling printing something you created on your own.
See alt for description of what it is.
More Modular Castle #3dPrinting.
Printed two small corner pieces and two turret wall ends. The turret wall ends aren’t part of the original set by Creative Tools but by Printables user “Bike Cyclist” (and includes #OpenSCAD source!). They fit nicely but the edges aren’t rounded over quite the same way as the original set.
So far this is about 950g of D3D Sigma Grey PLA (#MadeInCanada). Not a bad toy for $17.99 CAD.
(Banana for scale)
I've been stubbornly using OpenSCAD for any 3D designs I need, but it's always felt a little bare-bones compared to e.g. Freecad. Yesterday, I discovered BOSL2 which is a library that mostly closes this gap (e.g. you get paths sweeps, metric standard threads, configurable gears, and tons more). Highly recommended
I just noticed the last release of #openscad was in 2021 and you are supposed to use the unreleased beta/development versions these days
That turned out pretty well, considering I'm still pretty new at this OpenSCAD game :)

I love journaling so much. I had this fun idea: How about a 3D printed ruler for adding sheet music staves to my journal in random places? Excited to try it!
