Where can I find a dirt-cheap 2m/7cm dual-band yagi for satellite communications? So far, my searches come up with yagis that are way too expensive. When I say "dirt-cheap", I'm talking no more than $20 USD, that's the max I can afford with my current financial situation.

Since folks are sharing their shacks for #Shackturday, I'll share a couple of photos of mine. I've been tidying it up lately and not as active on the air, but planning to get a little radio time in this evening!
(Edit: though, i'm now told I should save the second one for #WorkbenchWednesday!)
The peak of the Eta-Aquarids may have past, there are still plenty of rocks around to have some fun on 6m meteor scatter.
As you can see from the Virgo screenshot, there is virtually always a meteor storm going on. It's just that only the large storms that make the news. But we don't need those to have fun on the radio with them.
Almost every morning I start my day with a MSK144 session on 6m, after which I will switch to Q65A-30s if that doesn't net me any contacts.
Radio Propagation
Very clean SSTV received from Rome this morning on 20m. Actually fairly similar to what I'll be doing in a couple of hours...
Is there a "standard" term for these multi-section variable capacitors?
Looks like there is a special Meshtastic firmware for Hamvention
Last year’s mesh chaos? We remember
We’ve created a special #Meshtastic event firmware specifically for Dayton #Hamvention2025!

Make sure to update your Meshtastic devices to at least 2.6.2 or newer!

Ham radio turns 100 in South Africa
“The South African Radio League (SARL) wants to broaden its contribution to the growth of amateur radio in sub-Saharan Africa as the organisation celebrates its centenary next month. Amateur radio, also known as ham radio, is a hobby that involves e ...continues

I'm so grateful for the information on some of these old ham sites, but man is it traveling back in time. Some havnt been updated in 15 or more years but are still up. I wonder how much info was lost when sites like geocities went out.
Some kind soul on here or Bluesky, sent me a link for #hamradio #AmateurRadio here in #France, but I can't seem to find it. I'm a noob keen on getting into ham radio. Any pointers gratefully accepted. Merci.
Continuing from here…
So now I have an 1:1 transformer balun based on these instructions (using 20 gauge thermostat wire and an FT-140-43 ferrite toroid) at the feed point of the antenna, and while I'm getting less noise when receiving than before, the SWR plot still looks pretty bad.
Some ideas going forward:
What do folks think?
Amazing radio club news latter. 6 issues/year. Cost: $0 (and no tariffs).

Today marks one of my personal highlights of the teaching year, gathering signals straight from NOAA and turning them into imagery, with the students learning about the material networks that underpin our contemporary environment. Below NOAA 19 11.21.51, confirming it is indeed a beautiful day!
Found a super top secret military transmission. Who better to decipher it than my green glowing Apple IIe from 1983? What could the message be?
