In our 9th month of living in the Vulpibus and our car, we are still working on getting the basics up and running. We yet need to get and install enough insulation, batteries and air con to have a safely temperature controlled environment of our own in this brutal, climate change addled world. We also need to install proper plumbing and to diagnose and fix some engine problems.

We have made great progress with many things, but the journey is far from over and your help continues to be needed. We are doing what we can to find more income sources, but in the meantime you are an incredible lifeline.

back on the bus for the first time in awhile. mostly just didnt want to drive the whole way. Even cutting out the last 15km and getting to a little is worth it.

First day after the last day of classes at univerity so it's pretty empty.

Hey folks. The car insurance and loan vultures are circling again for their respective pounds of flesh. So today is not going entirely to plan.
The set of additional #solarpanels I connected up refuse to give us juice. I tried to trace the fault and got jack shit info because my cheap ass 19 year old #multimeter is (confirmed by many tests now) not working any more. Its fuse is fine too, as is its #battery. It just displays zeros.
So add to the list of unexpected expenses and delays one new multimeter...

Today I
* stressed over a failed $51 payment and spent a while on hold trying to find out what to do about it (more #mutualaid would definitely help here)
* made more progress on the solar panel bumper (drilled holes in the wood pieces and fastened most of them together, except for the top side expansion piece that has to be cut lengthways and is taking much effort so I am cutting it a bit at a time),
* fixed my saw's (missing screw to hold on its handle) problem with a coach bolt and nut,
* made a start on chopping up the motor housing for the swing arm motor I removed from the front of the bus yesterday,
* dismantled a higgledy-piggledy ladder for its wood and screws,
* and enjoyed some nice sandwiches.

Working on another solar panel bumper made of wood from old pallets. It's raining really heavy outside so I'm working in what little space I have.

This last couple of days I've been accused of thievery for charging up an #EV from a socket the accuser has no idea if we have permission for or not (during the coldest nights when our batteries were failing in the bus), told we have a deadline to leave where we are and never to speak to our neighbours here again,

Had a feeling I needed new drill bits and then later got proven right when two snapped in a row

Completed the mounting of the first of 10 side-of-bus #solar panels to complement the 14 on the roof, inclueing a mad overnight rush to make a clamping bumper with pallet wood, velcro, old bus seat latches and miscellaneous salvaged screws,

Had lunch and washed the dishes,

And had a small #electrical fire erupt in our DC side of our power system while I was using the microwave, I have for now fixed the issue.

Guys!! i think my very pointed whining (with spreadsheets!) back in September to my local bus service may have borne fruit.

1) A month ago I sent an email asking for an update on getting me some historical schedules to continue my comparison and (!!) was informed the person in charge of scheduling had moved on…

2) the manager committed to get me the schedules within the month.

3) yesterday I got an email from the manager saying the schedules were ready for me to pickup. (all the way back to 2000!)

4) Today I see this service notice for changes coming January 5 which includes additional buses and, most interestingly *3* changes to the Qualicum-Woodgrove including increased service and 'minor route changes’.

They haven't published the schedule itself yet but hope springs eternal that this could be an improvement that allows me to get back on the bus more often! This fall has been the least I have taken the bus in probably 15 years purely out of deteriorating schedules.

There is a dude on the bus rn with the most massive, fully teased, half metre in diameter 'fro hair. As a mostly bald guy, not entirely by choice, I am perhaps naturally interested in people with a full head of hair but I don't wish for hair..I'm very comfortable in my own skin. I think in this case though, I may be fascinated out of semi-subconcious envy.

Reason #273, I have ridden the bus for most of the past 25 years. A fellow right now is explaining, in a non-threatening way, to another complete stranger, the benefits of bacon, from snakes.

I should have gotten a photo before I moved the parts library to the shop, but I'm in love with how much space I have in the garage now.
