#FPGA dorks. I'm running into an issue where #vivado says: multiple drivers on MMCM pins when I use a known good block (LVDS deserializer from appnote xapp523) in the vivado block diagram for a 7 series #xilinx #zynq part (snickerdoodle black). I get the error even if I pin out directly to top level pins. I hate using the gui because it hides too much magic. Has anyone hit this madness before?
I'm trying to deserialize a 1.024 Mbps 8b10b lvds to get it on the linux side for storage on disk.
It's #retro game time! Kevin's checking out the classic #discworld adventure game on the #MiSTERPi #fpga #owncast #peertube

Designing a font using only a few rects and triangles per glyph is satisfying if a little tedious. Another test for my #FPGA graphics engine and assets for future demos.
maybe someone with #fpga know-how here can help me out:
I have a couple of iCE40UP5K boards lying around. Any chance I can put them to use as a composite video digitizer (ideally USB video class)? It only has 1024Kb of SRAM, which is not enough for a full PAL or NTSC frame, but maybe MJPEG can compress it enough on the fly? Or can I send partial frames by UVC?
(where) can I find verilog/vhdl sources for the composite video decoding part?

I've got myself a new toy
This is the GateMateA1-EVB from Olimex, an FPGA dev board containing the GateMate CCGM1A1 with 20480 CPEs.
Now that initial nextpnr support for the chip has been merged, it is possible to program it with a fully open source toolchain
Synthesis with Yosys, place and route with nextpnr, bitstream packing with gmpack and finally upload to the board with openFPGALoader!
That meant I just had to get one, and two days later it arrived!
Another assembly day. Finally making more DVI Pmods! Soon to be back in stock :) #fpga #opensource #manufacturing #electronics
I made myself an Amiga 1200 with only new parts. FPGA based with the help of the mistress 1200 and the brand new keyboard from amigastore.
Catching up on some PCB assembly in the shop today. Collected a little bit of a backlog.

Do people just not use PLD or CPLDs anymore? I'm working on a project that they'd be kinda perfect for, but it seems like it's kind of a backwater. And, if people are still using them, what are the best (if there are any at all) open source toolchains?
Thanks!
(Boosts welcome)
@Rp12Biker Evaluate to use a MisterFPGA for it. Never went back to anything else after I did it. #mister #fpga #game #games #gaming #retro #retrogaming #retrocomputing
