Thousand Oaks Acorn: THOUSANDS GATHER IN PROTEST OF PRESIDENT'S POLICIES
Thousand Oaks Acorn: THOUSANDS GATHER IN PROTEST OF PRESIDENT'S POLICIES
Today I signed five more letters in support of bills now working their way through the state legislature in Sacramento. If enacted, these bills will improve the quality of life of residents and businesses here in Thousand Oaks.

I do like #boardgames with dice. The drama. The tactile interaction. The disappointment. #DiceHateMe
I especially like game designs where I can do well despite my poor luck with dice. One such game is Kingsburg. A resource collection through dice placement. The 3 newcomers to the game liked it too. I lost by a single point. GG.
Today I signed letters expressing the city's support for six state bills involving wildfire preparedness, emergency relief, short-term rentals, and alcohol and drug treatment centers. Working with our partners at @calcities, which lobbies on behalf of all of the state’s 400+ cities, we hope to see all six proposals enacted into law. There are more bills coming – will keep you posted on these.
Arbor Earth Day Celebration
The City’s annual Arbor Earth Day Celebration returns to Thousand Oaks Community Center Park to celebrate Earth Day and Arbor Day in one combined event. This year's event will include an electric vehicle display area where the public can see and ask questions about various EV models, compost and plant giveaways, a bicycle safety course & helmet giveaway, bicycle donation/collection, kids activities, raffles, live music, and more!
Come celebrate Arbor Earth Day at the Thousand Oaks Community Center on April 19th, 2025.
#TimelapseVideo of the whole of yesterday's #PartialSolarEclipse captured from #Oxfordshire UK with a #WilliamOptics 70mm refractor, #ThousandOaks glass filter & #Canon1100D. I took a photo every 15 seconds for 2hrs. Unprocessed aside from cropping the video
In Burbank today for League of California Cities’ spring policy meetings and legislative updates. Cal Cities represents most of the state’s 482 cities and is essential in helping shape legislation to better serve Thousand Oaks.
I serve on Cal Cities’ Environmental Quality (EQ) committee, where we voted to take positions on five proposed bills. These are recommendations to the league’s policy committee, where I also serve, and where we will vote on final positions later this year. (1/4)

A very wide range of games were played last night. From the quick & simple card games such as No Thanks and Llama; involved euro games such as Aeterna, Lost Ruins of Arnak, and Rock Hard 77; and with a detour into historical consims with Leuthen 1757. Mark had a great night with 5 wins in 6 games. I only won one game but I had a fun time and that's what counts.
Ewww... sewage spill. #ThousandOaks #VenturaCounty #sewage
Wildwood residents may have noticed a wastewater spill over the weekend near the end of Flaming Star Avenue, with the flow going down the canyon and into the creek. Public Works staff determined the cause was a blockage, not a pipe break, but unfortunately were not immediately able to clear the blockage. Instead crews quickly established a bypass line, effectively stopping the spill. (1/2)
The “Thousand Oaks table” was one of dozens at tonight’s fundraiser celebrating 50 years of Senior Concerns’ good works in our community. Its programs – including Meals on Wheels, adult daycare, caregiver support, and many others – are essential to the wellbeing of Thousand Oaks seniors and families.

Harmonies and Medici, two great small games with striking table presence hit the table.
Meanwhile, Bob and John etc played an oldie but a goodie in Lancaster. I have not played that in yonks. Yet that map seems strangely familiar.
Deception Murder in Hong Kong, and Clank! Catacombs were played on other tables.
Congratulations to Creole Kings, the newest addition to the food court at The Oaks! Owners Sashay and Jeremiah Kingdom have a wide variety of Creole treats, including po’ boys, fried okra, and (my favorite) beignets!

A bunch of new, to us, gamers and one new/old game in Black Gold. Find, extract, and sell oil in 1920s Texas. It’s a wild ride with fluctuating prices. Too random for some perhaps. Bob brought along Æterna again. I must give that a play because #MartinWallace
