A Sea of Rust.

Private boat ramps often used old railway iron to make launching easier from a small boatshed on the foreshore. Originally 99 year leases, these have all been phased out and private ownership agreements put in place.

A close up of rusting, unpainted steel beams at the seashore, the layers of steel peeling and separating. An upper beam slants gently downward for the boat ramp, an off vertical support held in place with large bolts at mid left. Kelp fragments hang over the upper beam, dried in the sun and blending in colour. A singular galvanised nut and bolt appears behind the top rail, oddly out of place in the sea of rust around it. Blurry background.

A rusty steel beam by the seashore, in close focus, the layers separating with the constant onslaught of salt air and water. A few small shellfish and barnacles cling to it's surface. Other rusting items in the foreground and background along the foreshore are lost in focus. Blue cloudless sky, the rusty reds and browns glowing in the late afternoon sun.

Yesterday I've met a fellow #vintagelens lover who took the game to another level. He designs his own lenses with old concepts. Like this #Petzval type with a nice soft focus, heavy swirl like a projection lens but with aperture. Just wow.
