Can someone make a real open source svg/vector #editor. Something like affinity design, but runs on all operating systems. OSX #Linux windows. That does not use #GTK because every GTK app is not suited for real work when you wanna get stuff done I’m sorry I need menus lists and dropdowns no hamburger trash plz.
#krita #gimp #inkscape #pinta #karbon none of these fill the void at least with vector editing, & having sensible key bindings. I would be more than happy to pay for the application.

Pinta 3.0 was just released. This version just made the minimum requirement of the .NET framework version 8.0.

The .NET Framework is a software framework created by Microsoft for building applications for Windows operating systems. It provides a platform for developing web applications, desktop applications, and other types of software.

Pinta 3.0 Released With New Effects and GTK4 Port

Indulging your casual creativity (read: making memes, defacing selfies, etc) using open-source tools is made easier with the long-awaited release of Pinta 3.0. Pinta, as long-time Linux users will be aware, is a cross-platform raster graphics tool with a feature set and user-interface partly inspired by popular Windows image editing tool Paint.NET. I previewed the Pinta 3.0 beta back in January and came away impressed. Pinta port to GTK4/libadwaita lends the UI a much-needed modern look – and is more than superficial: usability, performance and stability is bolstered by the toolkit bump. Pinta 3.0 switches to a button-based header bar :sys_more_orange:

Pinta 3.0 Beta Released with New GTK4/Libadwaita UI

A new beta release of open source graphics editing app Pinta is available for testing. Pinta 3.0 (beta) gives fans of this cross-platform raster image editor, which is directly inspired by the iconic Paint.NET Windows app, an early opportunity to try out the changes it brings — and there’s a fair few! The most impactful change in Pinta 3.0 is the most obvious one: it’s revamped UI. Newly ported to GTK4 and libadwaita, Pinta 3.0 swaps a traditional window frame and text-based menu bar for a button-based header bar. Long-time users may find themselves taking a bit of time to :sys_more_orange:

@arstechnica Adobe lost me the moment they paralysed my computer with background processes, to do things I didn't need. My questions, about what was happening, were not answered. I have always been a loyal, paying customer and would have remained one. But there are two things I don't like:

Wasting resources and being spied on. The latter is unclear. But with my cancellation, it no longer matters.

Pinta used to be my go-to image editing program for doing basic raster graphics/photo manipulation work. It ran on Linux, Mac, and Windows. It was simple. It was stable. In the past year though it has become so unstable as to be almost completely unusable. At first I thought this was just a problem with the Mac version but I'm having the problem on Linux as well both on the Cinnamon and Budgie desktops. Inkscape has some similar wonkiness on Mac. Are they getting bitten by some underlying GTK issue or is it a problem with both of these products?TBD but I'm now on the hunt for a cross-platform replacement for it :(. #Pinta #Linux #Mac #Windows #gtk
